What is Oqaaserpassualeriffik?
Oqaaserpassualeriffik (literally ‘Place where one deals with lots of words’) is a division of the Language Secretariat of Greenland Language Secretariat, Oqaasileriffik (literally ‘Place where one deals with words’). .
Oqaaserpassualeriffik’s primary task is the development of a fully-fledged language technology program for Kalaallisut eventually covering the whole suite of tools including automatic translation.
Greenlandic language technology is rule-based technology due to the structure of the language and far too little traing data.
The development of the rule-based Greenlandic language technology started in 2005 and the first product was the spellchecker Kukkuniiaat version 1, which was launched in 2006.
On the years, Oqaasileriffik har published various products that were developed and produced with Greenlandic language technology.
